Narrative Research Poll: NDP Leads Nova Scotia Voting Intentions
According to a recent Narrative Research survey, the Nova Scotia NDP holds the province-wide lead in current voting intentions. If a provincial election were held today, 31% of eligible voters indicated they would support the NDP, while 28% remain undecided. The governing Progressive Conservatives received 20% support, followed by the Liberal Party at 16%.
Support for the NDP is strongest in the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM), which has the province’s largest concentration of renters. The survey also found that Nova Scotians are more likely to prefer Claudia Chender as Premier, with that preference most pronounced in HRM, while voter preferences are more evenly divided across Cape Breton and mainland Nova Scotia.
The polling results are noteworthy for the rental housing sector, as the NDP has consistently advocated for expanding rent control and other tenant protection measures. With housing affordability expected to remain a prominent issue, rental housing policy is likely to be a significant topic in the lead-up to the next provincial election.
