Premier Houston announces cabinet changes, appoints new Minister of Housing
Premier Tim Houston announced a series of cabinet changes aimed at advancing energy, resource development, and economic growth. Houston will personally assume the role of Minister of Energy, in addition to his existing portfolios, emphasizing his goal to make Nova Scotia an “energy superpower.”
Among the key appointments, John White becomes Minister of Housing, a portfolio central to addressing the province’s rental supply and affordability challenges. Kim Masland adds Natural Resources to her responsibilities, while Scott Armstrong is named Attorney General and Minister of Justice. Barbara Adams becomes Minister of Opportunities and Social Development, maintaining her current roles. John A. MacDonald joins cabinet as Minister of Municipal Affairs, and John Lohr continues as Minister of Finance and Treasury Board.
The Premier thanked outgoing ministers Tory Rushton, Becky Druhan, and Trevor Boudreau for their service, noting they will remain as MLAs. The new appointments take effect immediately following the swearing-in ceremony.
