RHPNS Awards Guidelines and Grading Rubric
This guide is provided to ensure consistent, fair, and transparent adjudication across all RHPNS award categories. Judges should apply the rubric that corresponds to the type of award being evaluated.
The awards are open to all RHPNS members with properties and employees operating in Nova Scotia.
Scoring Overview
- All awards are scored on a 1–5 scale for each criterion
- Use whole numbers only
- Maximum total score per nomination: 20 points
- Written comments may be used to support scoring or assist with tie-breaking
Which Rubric Applies?
People & Leadership Awards
Use the People & Leadership Rubric for the following categories:
People & Leadership Awards – Evaluation Criteria
- Submission Quality (1–5)
- Clarity, conciseness, and completeness of responses
- Submission Relevance (1–5)
- Strength of alignment with the award category
- Demonstration of Excellence (1–5)
- Degree to which the nominee exceeds regular duties or expectations
- Positive Business or Community Impact (1–5)
- Tangible or measurable benefits to operations, residents, or stakeholders
Build Environment & Program Awards
Use the Build Environment Rubric for the following categories:
Build Environment & Program Awards – Evaluation Criteria
- Submission Quality (1–5)
- Clarity of project description, visuals, and outcomes
- Relevance to Award Category (1–5)
- Fit with the intent and scope of the award
- Design, Execution, and Delivery Excellence (1–5)
- Quality of design, planning, construction, or program delivery
- Operational, Resident, and Community Impact (1–5)
- Long-term value, resident experience, and community contribution
Optional Tie-Breaker Considerations (Non-Scored)
- Sustainability or long-term resilience
- Innovation or industry leadership
- Engagement with RHPNS or the broader rental housing sector
Judges are encouraged to focus on evidence provided within the submission and avoid assumptions based on organization size, brand recognition, or past awards.
