At the recent IPOANS Awards night, most of the speeches were about solving the housing crisis. This of course is an important issue that property developers can help solve as Mark Kenney, Jeremy Jackson and the Honourable John Lohr all confirmed.
But it takes more than a warm roof to bring out the humanness in people. Belonging is as fundamental as food, shelter and warmth for humans to survive. Lonely people are unhappy people.
As much as housing is the focused topic of the day, loneliness is rising to the top of the list. With nearly 50% of Canadians reporting that they experience loneliness, there are strong currents starting to roil in our society to address this issue. And Property Managers can make a big contribution with little investment or effort.
