Halifax’s West End Mall redevelopment will go on despite pushback, councillor says
Haligonians were given a preview Tuesday evening of the possibilities for the redevelopment of the West End Mall.
But the public open house came to an abrupt halt when a woman, who opposed the development, went on stage with a megaphone and took over the meeting at the Bethany United Church.
City staff ended things shortly after.Coun. Shawn Cleary (Halifax West Armdale) said he was disappointed at how the event unfolded.
However, Cleary said, he has since chatted with and received multiple emails from people in their 20s and 30s who are in favour of the future growth node.
The question Halifax Regional Municipality is trying to have answered at these open house events isn’t whether the development is going to go ahead or not.
