Southwest Properties shows off its new Halifax waterfront development
After three and a half years of construction and more than $100 million, Southwest Properties broke out the (non-alcoholic) bubbly for a lunchtime unveiling of its Cunard project on Wednesday.
The 16-storey building on the Halifax waterfront has apartments on 13 levels, plus six “live/work suites,” retail space and several waterfront restaurants.
Ben Young, Southwest president and CEO, said it was a “very complex build with a lot of moving parts.”
“We started moving people in here June 10th, and there were days we were moving five families into this building, six days a week. It’s chaotic and we’re still trying to finish things on the go,” Young said. “So, since June 10th, we’ve moved in all but 19 of 233 units in the building. We’ve never had a lease-up or a move-go this fast in any building.”
Built on the site of the oil company and steamship line named for Samuel Cunard, the development’s 225 residential suites come in a variety of configurations, including 23 Pinnacle Suites, described as an “elevated offering.” …[Continue Reading]
