No data to back claims of widespread fixed-term lease abuse, N.S. rental group says

There is no data to support claims of widespread abuse of fixed-term leases in Nova Scotia, says a member of the umbrella group of rental housing owners.

“Because of a lack of data, there is a lot of information that’s being put out that is not based on data, it’s just personal views and anecdotal,” said Kevin Russell, executive director of Rental Housing Providers Nova Scotia, an organization recognized as the collective voice representing residential investment property owners in the province.

“We believe there should be some empirical evidence behind any conversation around the use of fixed-term leases and, unfortunately, it just doesn’t exist.”
